Nepali Khechardi

This is a very common and very important food in Nepali society and culture. They are taking  in the cold season  with the family and relatives. They say that it is a sign they overcome from the cold weather and we are  very happy and we enjoy the food.Ingredients

  • black dhal.
  • rice
  • salt
  • butter
  • little black pepper
  • ginger
  • cardomum powder

 

  1. For the first  time put the black dhal in the water for  five minutes and  mixed the rice and wash the rice  and black dhal  wash two time and  and put it on the oven and apply the gentle heat and  let it cook slowly.
  2. Peel and grind the ginger into very small pieces and try to  make very soft.
  3. See the cooking pot and stir the  rice and dhal in the pot and check the heat of the oven. It should not be over heated,  the heat most be very gentle.
  4. When it is  half cooked  then add the  salt, butter, black pepper, ginger, cardomum ground, and again decrease the heat , let it be warm for 5 minutes then the food is ready.

This food is very tasty and very rich in vitamins and proteins.With this food we can use curry as a supplementary.
