My First Impressions by Annabell Phan

It was fate that caused me to wander into the Fringe Festival dipslays and by chance noticed the information about My Sisters' Kitchen and wrote down the details. I volunteer with Melaleuca Refugee Centre to support a family from Burma. So I organised to take the Burmese ladies along on a Monday. We were expected by Brenda the Manager, who was so good at explaining everything. It was an empowering and joyful experience for everyone to get involved in creating a meal and share ideas together. I saw people speaking different languages but communicated as though they spoke the same language. I was pleasantly surprised to find that anyone is welcome and that one or more people can volunteer to cook each week and have their money reimbursed.People using the computers next door were invited to join in the meal and everyone seemed thoroughly happy.

Lots of good memories captured on camera!
