Mum's Date Loaf - submitted by Shirley Preston at the Fringe Festival, 2009
Ingredients
- 1 cup of chopped dates
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1 tablespoon of butter
- 1 teaspoon of bicarb soda
- 1 cup of boiling water
- 1 cup of wholemeal plain flour
Recipie
- Put all dry ingredients into a basin & cover with boiling water
- Mix & let stand for 10 mins
- Add wholemeal plain flour
- Put into greased loaf tin
- Bake for 1/2 - 3/4hour in moderate oven until brown
We used to have this when we came home from school, thickly spread with butter. YUM! Shirley
